Day Two of the Perfect Giveaway/Birthday Bash

Hey everyone! It’s day two of the Perfect giveaway/birthday bash.

Yesterday I focused on Cupid, the little imp. Today it’s my turn, lol. Well, sorta. So, let’s do this…today I’m going to let some of my characters ask ME things… about anything, lol. Should be interesting!

So, come on in and have some cake! Ohhhh, I just love cake. I mean really, it should be its own food group, lol.

Dale (The Harvest): Hey M! I’ve always wondered, what’s your middle name?

M: Marie. It’s a family name. The youngest kiddo’s middle name is Marie also. It’s been passed down for a long time. The hubby and I had her name picked even before we had a name for our son, lol. We named him while I was giving birth. *snort* Honest to God, that’s the truth, lol.

Keyno (The Harvest): What did you base my species on?

M: Oh man, lol. Well, contrary to what some think, it wasn’t the Thunder Cats. Actually, I’m a huge scifi fan, and, well, I’d been watching Star Gate: Atlantis. The Ta’Narians are based on the…wraith. *smirk* Bet several of y’all just fell out in a dead faint, huh? LOL. That’s what the Ta’Narians started off as, then feline characteristics took over. But that’s where Keyno’s white hair and eyes came from.

Shawn (Nighttime Wishes): What’s your favorite color? I’m curious because several of your covers have blue in them.

M: *laugh* It just worked out that way. Red is actually my favorite color. Even my car is red.

Bryan (Nighttime Dreams): Ha! Better question than our covers, Shawn, is why tentacles??? Where the hell did that come from, M? Not that I’m complaining, mind you.

M: *blush* I’ve told this before, lol. Y’all’s story came from an anthology I was going to sub for and changed my mind at the last minute. There was just too much for a 20K word limit. Thus, tentacle porn was added to what I’ve written about, lol.

Jason (Shadows in the Night): You made me a cougar shifter. Keyno has cat-like features. Then there is Taz, another alien with cat-like features, but different than Keyno’s. Seems to me you like cats. Am I right?

M: Absolutely, but I’m allergic to them. However, that didn’t keep us from adopting Kitty-Kitty a little over a year ago when he showed up Halloween night, lol. Well, he adopted us. He’s my writing buddy now, and I don’t think I could do without him.

Chip (Shadows in the Night): What’s your favorite holiday?

M: That’s easy: Halloween. When the kids were little, I’d go all out. The whole house was done up. When I worked, I’d dressed up as a black cat too. The kids in my class loved it, lol.

Chaus (Into the Darkness): Speaking of Halloween, do you like vampires more than other creatures? I believe I’m the third vampire you’ve written.

M: *snort* Not at all. I love all my nonhuman guys, lol. It just happens you’re the meanest, lol.

Dale (The Harvest): Come on, M. That picture wasn’t the one you first picked out! Show the one you had originally… you chicken, lol.

M: Okay fine! There! *big grin*

Well, after that, how about we save some of the Q&A for tomorrow too. LOL! On to the question!

~The question for today is: I’ve written about a lot of different type of characters that live in a lot of different places. But… where would *you guys* want to live? Under water, the country, the big city, on another planet? Hit me with some places, lol!~

Don’t forget those email addies when answering too! Here’s the blurb and a short excerpt from Perfect...

What happens when a human by the name of Jeff Mayfield inadvertently lays a monster challenge on the God of Love… one that Cupid can’t resist? Jeff is willful, stubborn, and egotistical… and, best of all, doesn’t think love is something he needs in his life.

Can Jeff be…
Perfect?

Blurb:

Jaded billionaire Jeff Mayfield loves only what his money and power can buy, but the Fates have plans for him. First a player in Jeff’s casino hits a huge jackpot and things turn hectic. Then, in the middle of the chaos, Jeff lays eyes on the unbelievably sexy Cam Smith—Cupid in his human form.

Seized by lust, Jeff makes a move, only to find himself on the receiving end of a blistering wave of sexual intent. Cam disassembles Jeff’s self-image and puts it back together upside down. But Jeff isn’t the only one struggling with control. Cam’s alter ego is Jealousy, and if he loses his composure, the consequences will be deadly.

Excerpt:
“So, what is he, or who is he? Cam, I mean.”

Mo took a deep breath. “He wanted to be the one to tell you, Jeff. He’s Cupid, God of Love. He’s had his eye on you since he first saw Randy and Garrett. And no, he didn’t make them fall in love, any more than he made you fall in love. He didn’t use his arrows on any of you. You are his mate, his one true love. And believe me, Zeus isn’t happy with this situation, or with him. He’s not happy with either of us, actually.”

“Zeus…? He’s the… the….”

“God of all the gods.”

Jeff rested his head against the steering wheel. “Okay, right, god of all the gods. Can I say I’m a bit over-fucking-whelmed right now?”

“Now would be as good a time as any.”

Jeff sat back in his seat, rubbing his hands. He hadn’t realized what a tight grip he’d had on the wheel. “So, what has Zeus got up his ass about this?”

Mo frowned. “Up his ass? He’s not gay as far as I know, Jeff. But that’s not to say he hasn’t—”

“Oh my sweet baby Jesus.” Jeff had forgotten that Mo took everything literally. “Why is he not happy with this situation?”

“Ah.” Morpheus snorted. “You’re human. The gods don’t care all that much for humans. Plus, you are not immortal. We are.”

“Shit.”

“Nicely put. There’s more, and this is the hardest. Cupid stands for love, right? That’s what the mythology says, and it’s true. He has arrows that can make people fall in love or fall in hate. But what most humans don’t know is that there are two different sides of Cupid. You saw a bit of the other side earlier.”

“What do you mean?”

“That there is a dark side of love: obsession and jealousy. The other side of Cupid is Jealousy, the green-eyed monster that drives people to do horrible, destructive things. Jeff, I’ve seen Jealousy once, and he’s scary. You have to believe in your love for Cam. You need to keep talking, keep explaining what happened—while I stand guard.”

“Stand guard?”

“Jealousy truly is a monster.”
