Savage Angel

~So tell us about yourself. What got you interested in writing?
SG: I used to rewrite all the Trixie Belden endings so that Trixie and Jim Frayne wound up kissing. I loved doing that so much eventually I began making up my own characters…who wound up kissing at the end. :D

~Do you prefer hot or cold weather and why?
SG: Cold!  I am a figure skater, after all.

~How do you come up with a title?
SG:  The title, SAVAGE ANGEL, book 2 in The Earth Angels series, is a bit of a take-off on the heroine’s name, Sara Savitch.  Sara is a descendant of the Seraphim, warrior angels created to guard the throne of God, also known as the Burning Ones.  Sara’s character is true to her Seraphim heritage, so the title really fits.

~ Of all the modern conveniences, which one would you most likely say you couldn't live without?
SG: Computers.  Hands down.  It’d be tough without refrigeration and modern plumbing, and I’m probably underestimating how I rely on the modern system of food supply, but I seriously don’t see how I could do as much as I personally accomplish in a single day without my computer.

~Out of all the stories you’ve written which one are you most proud of?
SG: Ha!  Whichever one I’m currently writing! ;)

~ Who’s your favorite horror villain and why?
SG:  Stephen King’s Randall Flagg from The Stand and The Dark Tower series, closely followed by Tom Riddle/Lord Voldemort from the Harry Potter series.  Randall Flagg for his versatility—he can appear as almost anything, and Voldy because he’s the epitome of just how bad a human can go.  JK Rowling once said that he’s the only character who had no redeeming qualities about him, because he’d chosen to be the way he was.  Just like Harry Potter, Voldemort was the product of his choices.

~ What has been the toughest criticism given to you as an author? What has been the best compliment?
SG: Toughest comment to swallow came from an editor when I was still in my teens (yes, I tried to get published EARLY!).  She said there was just “something wrong” with my project, though she wasn’t sure what.  While it was nice getting a personal critique from a NY editor, the nebulous comment still bugs me—how was I supposed to fix what couldn’t be described?  Best comment—my mom sharing the deep, dark secret with me that not only has my dad read every one of my books, but the last one he read made him cry. <3 font="">

~What would be the one single piece of advice you’d give a new author?
SG: WRITE.  Don’t talk about.  Don’t say you want to be a writer.  Sit down and DO IT.

~Do you work an evil day job, lol? And if so, how do you find the time to write?
SG:  Ha, I absolutely LOVE my EDJ!  I’m a figure skating pro, so I get to play on the ice for a living, isn’t that great? :D  I write before I go to work, and I take a journal with me to write at a bookstore in between shifts, so I can usually get around 1.5K to 2K words in a day. Talk about the best of both worlds!

Thank you so much for allowing me to pop in and chat a bit about writing and my latest release, SAVAGE ANGEL!

Stacy will be awarding a $25 Amazon GC to a randomly drawn commenter during the tour, and a second randomly drawn commenter will be awarded a $10 Amazon GC. The more you comment, the better your chances of winning. The tour dates can be found here:

BLURB:

Book two in The Earth Angels

Feel nothing. Sara Savitch's personal mantra has been hard to live by ever since her torrid one-night stand with army doctor Gideon Mandeville. Descended from the Seraphim, angels known as heaven's soldiers, Sara may be an expert fighter, but she's an amateur when it comes to relationships.

Physically unharmed, but still battle-scarred, Gideon has returned to Dallas in the hopes of regaining his faith in humanity—and in himself. Instead he's walked into a nightmare. His father is on a serial killer's hit list, and has hired a personal bodyguard—the very woman who has haunted Gideon's dreams for a year.

As Sara works to build an impenetrable fortress around her client, she yearns to tear down the one around Gideon's heart. With his bitter rejection of warriors, will he ever be able to accept her true nature? Sara must find a way to trust Gideon with her secret as the killer closes in…

Excerpt:

“Let’s make this quick,” she announced without preamble, heading over to the desk and gesturing an invitation toward the chairs on the opposite side of it. “I have a meeting waiting for me, along with about a fifty other things that need to get done before noon. And in future, I’d appreciate it if you would call and make an appointment the next time you want a face-to-face.”

“An appointment? For me?” Refusing to even look at the chairs she’d indicated, Gideon kept his distance and stayed by the windows, his expression so remote he looked as unapproachable as the moon. “Do you insist all your lovers do that, or is it just me?”

She hoped her swift intake of breath was something only she heard. “You’ve made it apparent we don’t have that kind of relationship and after yesterday, I’m forced to agree with you. You’re not my lover, or boyfriend, or even acquaintance. We’re strangers, and I have no problem keeping it that way.”

“Except for the small fact that strangers don’t usually have mind-blowing sex up against the garage wall, do they?”

Her fingers curled into her palms, and she wondered if her face looked as neon-red as it felt. “And here I was, thinking you’d forgotten about that.”

“Something that hot is hard to forget.”

AUTHOR Bio and Links:

A competitive figure skater from the age of eight, Stacy Gail began writing stories in between events to pass the time. By the age of fourteen, she told her parents she was either going to be a figure skating coach who was also a published romance writer, or a romance writer who was also a skating pro. Now with a day job of playing on the ice with her students, and writing everything from steampunk to cyberpunk, contemporary to paranormal at night, both dreams have come true.
