Welcome LM Somerton and Giveaway

Hey everyone! Today I have LM Somerton visiting with me, and boy, do I have a treat for you guys. *Rubs hands together* She’s giving away a PDF copy of her release The Portrait.

Now, some of you may remember her as Amaranthya from Literotica. And yes, I’m a big fan of her work, lol.

To enter the giveaway, please comment and make sure to leave me an email addy. The contest runs from now until Monday noon CST. I’ll use random.org to pick a winner and email them. Once they email me back, I’ll send the PDF copy. I’ll make the announcement in all the usual places. If I don’t hear back in 48hrs, I’ll pick another winner.

So, join us around the fire while we get to know LM a little better!

 ~

~So tell us about yourself. What got you interested in writing?

Well, I’ve always loved it but it was a challenge from a friend that made me take it more seriously. He said there was no way a straight female could write for a gay male audience. Red rag to a bull! Have to say he’s been very gracious in defeat…

~Do you prefer hot or cold weather and why?

Cold. I’m English so I don’t have much choice! I love rain, thunderstorms, frost and chilly autumn sunshine. Could do without snow though.

~How do you come up with a title?

I try to aim for something that reflects the core of a story, but it’s not a very scientific process. I haven’t yet struggled to come up with something, there always seems to be a natural choice.

~ Of all the modern conveniences, which one would you most likely say you couldn't live without?

Excluding the Internet and my laptop (cos that would be obvious and boring) it would have to be a toss-up between my electric blanket (just think English weather) and my SatNav – my sense of direction sucks.

~Out of all the stories you’ve written which one are you most proud of?

I hope that everything I write gets better as I gain experience, but I’m especially proud of Stroke Rate, which will be published in 2013.

~Who’s your favorite horror villain and why?

I’m a complete wuss when it comes to horror so I don’t really watch or read much in that genre. My favourite villain would be Moriarty, Sherlock Holmes’ nemesis; there’s something extra-scary about villains who see crime as an intellectual challenge.

~ What has been the toughest criticism given to you as an author? What has been the best compliment?

My editor is tough! She has a thing about independent body parts, a very bad writing habit that I’m trying to grow out of. On the other side of the coin, and I’m not sure if it was meant as a compliment, I had a reader contact me to say she couldn’t read some of my stories because they were too much for her heart condition!

~Is there anything you’d like to tell? Maybe something in the works you would like to promotion? Feel free!

The Portrait is my first published work and the sequel, Black Dog, will be available in January. I also have several other titles that will appear next year.

Blurb:

Can shy, submissive Tristan become dominant enough to rid himself of a malevolent ghostly rival and find his happily ever after?

When Tristan Lindsay takes a job cataloguing the library at Faversham Park, home of rock star Marcus Balen, he also accepts a role as companion to Balen’s artist son, Garrick.

Garrick is beautiful and talented. He’s also demanding and infuriating. He uses Tristan as an unwilling model, shamelessly manipulating the shy boy’s emotions to draw out his submissive tendencies.

Drawn into the enigmatic artist’s world, Tristan discovers a side of himself that he didn’t realise existed. Although afraid of his own feelings, he learns to trust Garrick and falls deeply in love.

But Garrick has a secret that could tear them apart. A ghostly rival objects to Tristan’s presence in Garrick’s life. As the spectre’s malevolence increases, the young lovers must search for clues to the haunting and find a way to exorcise the jealous ghost. What they find leads them down a path that challenges the dynamics of their relationship. Will their love be strong enough to overcome its supernatural opposition, or will there be no happily ever after?

Excerpt:
Tristan was buried in old papers when the library door opened at around eleven. First in was Merlin the cat, who headed straight for the armchair and spread himself across the deep cushion with a contented purr. The cat was followed by Garrick, who leaned over Tristan’s shoulder then began to massage his neck with deft strokes.

“Do you want to take a break? Come and get some coffee.”

Tristan cursed as the sensation of Garrick’s hands on his skin ignited the one part of his body that he seemed to have absolutely no control over.

“Is something wrong?” Garrick’s voice was innocent, but his eyes revealed his amusement and his intent.

“Coffee would be good.” Tristan spoke through clenched teeth. He stood and pushed his chair back, but could go no farther as Garrick pressed against him. Garrick moved his hands from Tristan’s neck to his shoulders, then trailed them down his spine to rest against his arse. Tristan could feel Garrick’s cock pushing against him through the fabric of his jeans. His pulse quickened as Garrick slid his hands around him and undid his waistband.

“Bend over.”

Garrick didn’t wait for him to obey. He pushed him down onto the table, scattering books and papers. Tristan braced himself. Garrick pushed his jeans down and slid cool hands beneath his shorts to massage his balls.

“Oh, Christ!” He pushed back impatiently as Garrick held him down with one hand and fumbled with his own fly with the other.

Suddenly there was a loud banging that echoed through the house. Someone was at the front door.

“Fuck!” Garrick sagged against him, then took a step back. “Who the hell can that be?”

He looked regretfully at Tristan’s exposed arse and placed one hand against his firm cheek.

“Later.”

My bio:
Lucinda lives in a small village in the English countryside, surrounded by rolling hills, cows and sheep. She started writing to fill time between jobs and is now firmly and unashamedly addicted.

She loves the English weather, especially the rain, and adores a thunderstorm. She loves good food, warm company and a crackling fire. She’s fascinated by the psychology of relationships, especially between men, and her stories contain some subtle (and not so subtle) leanings towards BDSM.
