Few Hours Left

Well, in a few hours Darkness Awaits will no longer be for sale. :'(  For those that bought it I want to say thank you so much! :)

So, it looks like I'll be a few weeks without anything out, then Nighttime Wishes will be released. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with Darkness. I *may* tweak a few things and see if I can find another home for it. Or I might just self publish itI'm still kicking that idea around, too. I'm not planning (oh no, there's that damn word again!) to change it much though if I do tweak it.

I just don't know yet, and with all the things I've got going on right now it may be a while before I can get to it. But yeah, it was my first published book and it kinda hurts to see it disappear for a while. *sob*

Ah well, we'll see what the future hold for Max and Michael.

Quick Note

*Grin*

I'm at it again, lol. Like I don't have enough going on, oh no, I just got to go and get hit with an idea for another story!

So, how y'all feel about demons? Just wondering, lol, cause I got this idea for a killer-yes, pun intended-idea. I've never done demons, so this is a new area for me. *wink*

Ever heard of Asmodeus? He's one of the seven princes of Hell and represents the seven deadly sin Lust. It's said people who fall to Asmodeus' ways will be sentenced to an eternity in the second level of hell. He has 72 legions of demons under his command and is under Lucifer the emperor.

There are many different references to this demon. I think I'm going with the one that says Asmodeus is a cambion... a half-human offspring from the union between a human male and a succubus, or of an incubus and a human female. I think having the power of a incubus will add a little spice to his love life, lol.

Of course I'll put my own spin on things. And we'll see if this ends up as a HEA or not. I'm kinda thinking it will, knowing me. But there's all kinds of happily ever after, and what a demon considers happy is... well, shall we say different from us? *giggle*

After all, there's hell... and then there's HELL. ;)

Now gotta come up with a damn title!

TGI Friday

Hey guys, for TGI Friday we’re going to do something a little different. This is an interview I did with Amylea Lyn. She’s a multi-published author, and I’m so pleased to have the opportunity to interview her! Please check her out at her blog Passion’s Harem.

Amylea Lyn

~When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

I don’t know if there was ever an exact moment… being a writer is just something I’ve always wanted to do. I remember being a little girl and writing stories to amuse my friends at school.

I don’t think I’d be happy doing anything else. LOL

~How do you come up with a title?

Funny you should ask… LOL. I recently changed the title to a story because I didn’t like the way it sounded in relation to some of my other works. I generally try to some up with a “just for now” title while I’m writing, so I can keep things straight on my schedule and in my mind. After my story is done I decide whether or not I want to change it. For some reason the titles just come to me.

But I admit, I have also been known to use my grandma Joyce as a sounding board. She’s awesome and reads everything I write. LOL. I’ve come up with a lot of titles thanks to her.

~ How long does it take you to write an eBook/full story?

Hmm… about three months or so. Sometimes a bit longer. I try to keep to a schedule, especially now that my books are becoming better known and I have series’ out. The readers demand more books out in a timely fashion and I try to deliver them.

Speaking of, I’ve only got a month to finish my current WIP. *head desk*

~Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?

My ideas come from everywhere. I can be inspired by TV, a song on the radio, or even a conversation with a friend. I never know when an idea will hit me, and always carry a little notebook around with me to jot ideas down in. Just recently I was inspired for a scene in a book while out eating sushi!

As for information, I do a lot of research, especially if I’m writing about an area I’m not all that familiar with. The internet is my friend… *pets computer lovingly*

~Which character caused you most difficulty to write?

Honestly, the more normal a character is, the harder they are for me to write. I excel at the off the wall types. If I had to pick one, it would have to be Aiden from Dream a Little Dream.

~When do you do your best writing… morning, afternoon, evening, night?

It used to be night, but right now it seems to be afternoon. As long as I’m alone and my cat is occupied elsewhere, I’m good to go. :)

~Out of all the stories you’ve written which one are you most proud of?

Nature of the Beast. Definitely. It was the first book in my Outside the City series and completely out of my comfort zone.

I’m even more proud not to say that book 2 of the series, The Beast’s Promise, comes out on March 24th and I’m about halfway don’t with book 3!

~Which story caused you the most difficulty to write?

I have a hard time writing anything that has to do with child abuse, and there is a scene in my book The Beast’s Promise that literally made me walk away from the book for almost two weeks.

As for the hardest story to write as a whole, I’d have to say Dream a Little Dream since it was my first novel and took me over 6 months to finish.

~Which character is most like yourself?

Is it cheating if I say all of them? LOL. I put a bit of myself into each of my characters, but out of all of them I’d have to say Raine from Nature of the Beast. We share the same attitude and a deep love of nature.

~Do you plan your stories and, if so, to what extent?

I have a general outline for each story before I start writing, just so I know where I’m headed in the end and what major factors I have to touch on at some point. After that, it’s all up the characters and where ever my Muse decides to take me.

~Do you plan your characters?

The main ones. The supporting characters just seem to pop out of nowhere… I think there might be a waiting room of some kind in my mind where they hang out until they feel they’re needed. *chuckles*

~Out of all the characters you’ve written which one has affected you most? Not necessarily which one you like most, but which one ‘got to you’?

Cael. From Dream a Little Dream. He went through so much at such a young age and I always felt so bad for putting him through what I did. I rooted for him the whole time I was writing his story and cheered along with my readers when he finally got his happily ever after.

And Tom, from Let’s Get Familiar. And Mi’Kel from Love’s Crash Landing… I have a thing for the sweet, needy types.

~Do you think there are any hidden messages in any of your stories?

Just to love each other without worry of what others say and think. It’s something all my characters seem to learn in the end. Everyone deserves a love story, even the not so nice guys in my books.

~How many times have you started a story and abandoned it?

Never. LOL. Well, okay that’s not exactly true. I do have a file labeled the “Elephant Graveyard” in my computer, but I have no problem pulling stuff out if needed. I always know that eventually I’ll go back to something, so I save everything.

~How many stories do you work on at any one time?

One main one, possibly two, but I dabble with a blog story once a week and may work on some outlines if I get writers block. But never more then two main stories at a time. I always feel like I didn’t do the characters and story justice if I try to stretch myself thin by working on too much at one time.

~Has there even been something that you have had a SERIOUS disagreement with your editor or beta reader about?

Not that I know of. I always try to listen to my editors and betas objectively. The only time I remember disagreeing with something big was when it completely changed the context of the story from that point on, basically rendering everything else I’d written useless.

Needless to say, we didn’t make that change and the story was published like I wanted it to be. *winks*

~What is your deepest fear?

You know, when I was younger I always said my fear was heights. Now I realize my fear isn’t actually heights, but falling and hitting the ground from so far up. I can go as high as the moon and fall with no problem, as long in the end I won’t hit the ground with a splat!

~What do you like to do when you’re not writing??

I really enjoy gardening, and currently getting ready for this planting season. I also like canning and preserving foods (jams, pickled peppers, and home-made applesauce, oh my!) and spend a lot of time doing that. I also enjoy reading books by other authors and I used to like taking long drives in my car…. Until gas prices got to be so high! LOL.

~Is there anything you’d like to tell? Maybe something in the works you would like to promotion? Feel free!

Well, as I stated above I have a book coming out on March 24th. The Beast’s Promise (Outside the City 2) will be available from Silver Publishing! This is Owen and Maltok’s story, so for everyone who read book 1, I hope this book 2 measures up to your expectations! LOL

After that I have another book coming out with Silver Publishing, called Solid as Stone. (Tentatively scheduled for July 21st.) This is book 1 of my new series titles The Brotherhood and I can’t wait for everyone to read it!

I have one more book out towards the end of the year, which is the blog story I just finished writing, Whispered Secrets, Hidden Eyes. It’s due out around late September I believe.

Those are the things scheduled, and I’m trying to get book 3 of Outside the City finished by the end of April. After that I’ll be working on the sequel to Love’s Crash Landing and book 2 of The Brotherhood.

Needless to say I’ll be a busy girl for the next few months. LOL.

Quick Note

Hey guys! I wanted to give a good friend of mine a shout-out for a book she just had picked up by Dreamspinner Press.

Talismania's Sorcerer's Knot is under contract and is a gay male fantasy novella story with tentacles. Yes, I said tentacles! *Fans self*

Brilliant Disguise is her blog. It's also listed in My Blog List over to the left there. :) This is her first erotica eBook release and boy, lol, she started off with a bang! Dreamspinner is pretty big in the eBook publishing world and I'm tickled pink for her!

So, drop by for the blurb she posted and check out her blog. She has lots of cool stuff over there, lol.

TGI Friday

Say hello to my little friend!

LOL. Okay, sorry! I was in a Scarface type of mood there for a minute. This is my writing buddy, Kitty-Kitty. Or also known as Diesel from Nighttime Wishes.Yes, Kitty-Litty is really his name. The short version of the story is he showed up in our garage Halloween night. I have an idea he was dumped in our neighborhood, and of course he found his way to us.
Of course.
Within two weeks the hubby is sneaking the cat inside. *snort* Like I’m not going to notice this. So why is this a big deal? Oh man, I am *very* allergic. I’m talking ‘had to take shots as a kid’ allergic. Well, we called him kitty-kitty in the beginning and the name stuck. He actually answers to that now. Or I should say he turns his head and graces us with a look when the mood strikes. Other times he actually does come when called; or so he lets us believe. Walk in the kitchen and he’s your best friend, lol.
Most times he sits next to me on the couch if I’m writing. Now this couch is big enough to sit three people. I tend to sit in the middle and he sits to the left of me. As time goes by he will move a little closer. Okay, no big deal. Then he rolls over so he’s plastered right next to me.
Alrighty then.
Next thing I know he’s using his hind legs and is pushing on my arm. Now we got trouble. But that’s just the beginning. If I stop and say something he takes that as the go-ahead to climb up on me and, ah, help type. Seriously, the last thing I need is that kind of ‘help’ typing. Oh yes, he likes watching the laptop screen and seeing the curser moving around if I’m on Google.
Or Lord forbid, if I stop and just stare off in space he will meow at me. Meow at me, y’all hear me??? Why do I feel like I’m being told to get back to work? So we, the Kitty-Kitty and I that is, have this conversation where I tell him I am working, that I’m working out a scene in my head.
Can a cat smirk? Oh yes, yes they can. Trust me on this. I’m waiting for the day he rolls his eyes at me. Damn cat.
*grin*

Deleted Stories

I see that The Harvest, Priceless, Perfect and Pure have been deleted from Literotica. Just wanted to make a quick update just in case the other post on this was missed. I did delete both series from Lit, and it wasn't an easy choice. There have been so many stories stolen from Lit lately-and while Lit seems to be taking an interest in forcing the sites to close that do this-they just pop right back up under a new name and start stealing again.

That's bad enough, but several authors' have had things stolen and published as ebooks!

This is what made me put the delete request in at Lit. I plan to publish both series, starting with Priceless, so to protect myself I deleted both series. That's not to say I won't publish at Lit. ever again. I do have plans for The Yellow Rope and the follow up to Kiss Me Deadly. Then there is the young stories.

LOL, I have lots and lots of plans. :)

TGI Fridays

Last Friday was something sweet, so I thought we'd do something spicy.

Thursday, March 8, 2012

Quick Note

Okay...

Sounds serious, huh? Truth is I do have something serious to tell you guys, and I hope everyone understands. I just put the delete request in for my Greek Gods... and The Harvest.

This wasn't an easy decision to make, believe me. My plan was to leave each series up until right before it was published. But, after finding so many stories by Lit authors stolen and posted on another site I had to seriously reconsider that plan. Yes, I wasn't one of the authors stolen from... this time. And that's the problem. I dodged a bullet this go-around, I might not be so lucky next time. From the looks of things this deal with stealing stories isn't going away any time soon.

I hate having to do this, I really do. I've been kicking the idea around for a while, but been holding off doing anything. Then I found that site and that pretty much made my mind up.

I'm not pulling everything off Lit. And there will be more stories coming later. I still plan to do the young stories, too. Then there are the short stories on here that I plan to expand and post. The Yellow Rope will be the first one to post at Lit.

Believe me when I say this wasn't easy for me, and I hope you guys understand.

Quick Note

Well, it’s official. Republica Press is going out of business.

1. Sales of Republica books on every site will end as of April 1st. Anything up until then will be treated as normal and go on our final statement. So all books can still be bought until then.

2. The rights will revert to the authors immediately. This is really great news! We will get the master copies. As I understand it we get the covers, also.

3. Then it's up to the authors to do what we will with those. I'm still thinking about what I’m going to do with Darkness Awaits. I may revise and expand it, but won’t change the plot. There’s a few things I’d like to tweak.

I want to thank Emma for that first email so long ago. Without her I don’t know if I would have ever worked up the nerve to publish. I’m sad to see RP go out of business, but the memories left to me are ones I’ll never forget. So… thank you, Emma.

Quick Note

So, the good news. I received the mock cover for Nighttime Wishes last night and the artist did a wonderful job. I swear, it was like she could see in my head and see my human character perfectly. The background fits the theme… I’m tickled pink, lol.
And now for the bad news. The publishing company that released Darkness Awaits is more than likely going out of business at the end of the month. It’s not certain, but I got the impression this was a done deal.
I’m not sure what I’m going to do with Darkness Awaits yet. Well, nothing until the end of the month, then after that we’ll see what my options are. I had planned to publish Priceless, Perfect and Pure but that’s on hold now until I get the sequel to Nighttime Wishes finished.

Ramblings

So here I am waiting for someone to come look at my furnace that gave up the ghost last night. *sigh* Why does this always happen when we have a little money put up? Never fails. And with my luck we'll need something expensive... like a whole new furnace. Just watch. That's the way my luck runs.

I'm not in the mood to write because I'm annoyed and I'd probably kill everyone off at this point, lol, or do something equally crazy. Plus they'll probably show up just as I get in the groove and that'll be the end of that. Some more writing interruptus, lol.

So I decided to download some free eBooks from Allromance and add them to my Goodreads shelf. I really need to come out of my own world more often because I found what looks like some really good books. Kim Dare is one author I really like along with SL Armstrong and Xara Xanakas.

So I wait... but at least the time will past nicely. ;)

~M

* Oaky, so a plot bunny may hop out of this deal thanks to my twitter friends, LOL!
