Thursday Book Recommendation

These are books I’ve read and really enjoyed. Most of what I talk about will probably be paranormal/scifi but not always. Although it’s rare, I do read some contemporary.

This week is: Dom of Las Vegas (Sin City 1) by Tricia Owens

Blurb: To have the man of his dreams, he may have to give up his own...

Ethan Winter has known since he was a kid that he wants to work for the FBI. Until then he's stuck modeling underwear and photographing cheating spouses for a private investigator. But when a trip to Las Vegas for a security conference brings him into contact with the magnificently dominant Maxmillian Poole, Ethan finds himself faced with a dilemma: pursue his childhood dream or become the partner of a man who seems to know him inside and out and who offers a life any submissive would crawl for.

Tuesday Teaser

This is a short excerpt from Frost's Bite, #3 in the Mystic Bay series

He honestly didn’t see how Paul and Andy made their relationship work since it was incredibly rare for a Guardian to have a mate, and Andy was not Paul’s. What would Paul do if one day Andy found that one person who belonged to him?

Guardians were so long-lived, they were practically immortal, and aging stopped around thirty or so. Very few paranormal lifespans lasted as long as theirs.

Vampires lived as long as they did, but they were the undead. Half their existence was spent avoiding the sun, silver, and pointy objects. Then there was the drinking blood thing. Plus, most were arrogant beyond belief.

Merfolk fell into the long lifespan category, but, generally speaking, they were assholes who’d just as soon drown you as look at you. There were two kinds, but only those who could transform into a more human appearance ventured onto land, usually to unleash chaos upon unexpecting humans.

Then there were the Reapers, or Angels of Death as some called them, and they frankly spooked Jonas. They were generally impartial; neither good or bad. A Reaper transported souls from the physical world to the afterlife—there was no Heaven and Hell as humans believed.

They were one of the few paranormals who could restore life, but if they did, another one was forfeited. They were eternal and creepy as hell. Not to mention they carried a scythe, something no Guardian wanted near since it could not only kill them, but also destroy their soul—a true death—if the Reaper so chose. There was no coming back from that.

Long lifespans were why this thing with Nicholas confused him. There was no way he was Jonas’s mate, regardless of the golden thread he saw. Nicholas might be a paranormal, but elementals lived only a few hundred years, like werewolves.

Pucker Up Monday

Welcome to Pucker Up Monday. It's not what you think, lol. Since Mondays do tend to suck, I though I'd try to start the week off right for y'all.

(Lately I've been posting pictures of guys kissing in the snow since it's winter. Thanks to last week, I've met my quota of snow lol. So this week, we're going for warm weather kissing!)

Thursday Book Recommendation

These are books I’ve read and really enjoyed. Most of what I talk about will probably be paranormal/scifi but not always. Although it’s rare, I do read some contemporary.

This week is: Curses, Foiled Again by Sara Trevor

Blurb:

Felix is a vampire—a fierce creature of the night who strikes terror into the hearts of everyone unlucky enough to become his prey. Or at least, that’s what he thought was true, until he met John. John is completely unimpressed with Felix, much to his dismay. Felix becomes fixated on proving his ferocity to John—and when that doesn’t work, he strives to make any impression on him at all.

John is a witch, and as all witches know, vampires are notoriously stupid creatures who only have the power to hurt those who fear them. Besides, he’s under a curse much more frightening than any vampire. Felix’s desperate attempts to impress him annoy John at first, but gradually, they become sort of endearing. Because of his curse, John has pushed everyone in his life away. But Felix can’t be hurt, so there’s no harm in letting him hang around.

Felix is technically dead. John has nothing left to live for. But together, they might have a shot at life.

This dark and witty vampire romance for adults is complete at 100,000 words, with no cliffhanger. Despite some dark twists and turns, it ends with a solid HEA.

Tuesday Teaser

This is a short excerpt from Frost's Bite, #3 in the Mystic Bay series

At three hundred years old, this was not the first man Jonas had been with, so what was happening to him? Nicholas completely took him over. That had never happened. He never allowed it, but he liked it. A lot. He wanted to give everything to Nicholas.

When Nicholas nudged Jonas’s head to the side and nibbled a path down his neck, he willingly bared his throat. He moaned when Nicholas sucked hard, marking him. Something pressed against his skin, and he squirmed from an odd stinging sensation.

Electricity jumped between them, and Jonas clutched at Nicholas as the desire between them swirled. He wanted to feel Nicholas’s hands all over his body, feel him pushing his cock inside him, feel his heart beating against his. His spirit reached for the one who belong to him and—

“Hey! Don’t make me get the water hose after you two,” Andy yelled, amusement heavy in his voice.

The tips of Jonas’s ears burned as blood rushed to his face. Shit, shit, shit. If Nicholas could scent him, then everybody around them most likely could too.

“It smells like freshly baked chocolate chip cookies—a rich aroma with a hint of cocoa, sugary dough, and butter that intoxicate the senses.”

Jonas shivered at the heat in those words. His desire smelled like cookies? Why had no one ever told him that? Was that a good thing or not?

“It calls to me. Makes me want to devour you.”

Jonas’s cock perked all the way up at the need in those words. He was all for devouring. Absolutely. His cock was on board with the idea too. Nicholas could start there, in fact.

He’d kill to see those pink lips stretched around his dick. Unable to help himself, he stared at the oddly swirling colors in Nicholas’s gaze. So pretty. So… memorizing. He swayed toward Nicholas.

“Your gaze, it heats me up.”

Jonas swallowed roughly. The predatory hunger in Nicholas’s gaze excited Jonas, sending sharp spikes of need through his body. Inches apart, their breath mingling, he threw caution to the wind and leaned toward Nicholas.

Thursday Book Recommendation

These are books I’ve read and really enjoyed. Most of what I talk about will probably be paranormal/scifi but not always. Although it’s rare, I do read some contemporary.

This week is: A Collar For His Brat #1: Crash by R.J. Moray

Blurb:

Nate has his life under control. He's got more money than he knows what to do with, a partnership in the hottest security software company on the planet, and a townhouse overlooking the bay. What more could a single billionaire Dominant want?

Obviously someone who knows when to get down on their knees and beg. But Nate needs more than an obedient submissive, demurely bending to his every whim. He needs someone with teeth.

When trouble-making (and brilliant) programmer Ewan McKinney walks into Nate's office and recognizes him from the Club, he seems like the worst possible candidate for the role. He's stubborn, unpredictable, and fiercely independent. Nate knows he should keep his distance, but he can't stand back and watch Ewan tear his own life apart. Not when it's becoming painfully clear how Nate wants to take care of him.

Ewan has nothing in his life under control. If he had, he wouldn't have ended up the pet project of his new boss, who just happens to know Ewan's kinky little secret. But instead of blackmailing him, Nathaniel Scott seems determined to fix him somehow. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so tragic.

Ewan is determined to prove he doesn't need Nate's pity, but the closer they get the more obvious it becomes that Ewan needs someone in his life to tell him 'no'.

But does it have to be Nate? And why does this feel so much like falling in love?

Tuesday Teaser

This is an excerpt from Frost's Bite, #3 in the Mystic Bay series.

Now this was just ridiculous. He’d never had such a reaction to another being.

Glancing around the area, he rearranged his cock as discreetly as possible. The hair on the back of his neck rose almost immediately, and like a moth drawn to a flame, he made eye contact with Nicholas.

Cool air circulated around them as Nicholas slightly raised his chin, his nostrils’ flaring slightly. Jonas blinked in confusion. That gesture almost looked like what a wolf or a vampire did when scenting.

Nicholas prowled across the blood-soaked ground, coming straight at Jonas. Jonas, a damn strong Guardian in his own right, stood rooted to the spot, staring like a deer caught in headlights. There was something predatory in that gaze, something voracious. Nicholas didn’t stop until he was seriously intruding in Jonas’s personal space.

With less than a foot between them, Jonas could clearly see Nicholas’s feature. His breath caught at the cold beauty in front of him. The long white hair and toned body that wasn’t heavily muscled were striking.

But the delicate facial features, slight dent in the chin, stubs around the lips and eyebrow didn’t scream threat. Until one felt his power. Until one looked into Nicholas’s eyes.

Then you just knew you’d met your match. Death loitered there, waiting to strike. Those icy eyes were striking at the best the times, but when he used his power, eerie swirls of blues flitted in Nicholas’s eyes.

“I smell your desire. It overpowers all else.”
