Teaser Tuesday

~Beyond the Darkness, #3 in the Dragons of San Delain series

AFTER WHAT felt like an eternity, Kit was suddenly jolted awake by a surge of excitement coursing through the bond. A bolt of adrenaline rushed to his limbs, urging him to sit up and scan the room frantically. His gaze was immediately drawn to the hoard’s door. His mates were out there, eager to unlock it so they could finally get to him.

The door swung open with a loud creak, and Hudson burst through like a force of nature. His strides were long and purposeful, his gaze fixed on the target in front of him. Kit’s breath caught as he watched Hudson approach.

He’d always thought Hudson was sexy, but there was something different about him now. A raw, untamed energy emanated from every inch of his body, giving off an air of danger and unbridled sensuality.

It was both intimidating and alluring at the same time. Hudson’s eyes were still the color of his dragon, and redness rode on his cheeks. His long hair flew around him as he advanced toward Kit.

Connie’s short hair was becomingly messy, and there was color on his cheeks too. The stubble on his jawline only added to his rugged appearance. His eyes were human brown and blazed with intensity, yet they practically glowed with warmth and affection.

Jumping to his feet, Kit threw himself at Hudson. Connie slammed into both of them, and Kit wrapped an arm around Connie’s neck, pulling him in for a desperate kiss.

Teaser Tuesday

“I’m sorry about ruining lunch,” Kit said quietly as they returned to the bookstore.

“You didn’t ruin anything, my friend.”

“Didn’t I? We didn’t see anyone threatening, and nothing happened,” Kit said. “It was just probably some homophone staring at me because of the way I look and dress.”

Beckett checked the rearview mirror, and then looked out the window as he made a right-hand turn. “Don’t ignore your instincts, Kit. Never do that. Someone followed us yesterday. Don’t ever ignore your instincts.”

Kit bit his lip. “You’re right. I did feel like I was being watched, even though I didn’t see anybody.”

“I didn’t smell hunters, but there were so many humans and other paranormals in there, along with the scent of cooking food and alcohol, it could’ve easily been covered up.”

“Do you think it could have been Don?” Kit asked, blurting out what he’d been thinking.

Teaser Tuesday

Kit’s lips touched Connie’s. It was so sweet, so loving. So very loving. Hope blossomed in Connie’s chest.

Was this coming from Kit? Was he developing that type of feeling for him and Hudson already? There was affection there and definitely chemistry. Attraction and compatibility were definitely growing between the three of them. But love? Was it too soon to hope for that?

“Bedroom,” Kit whispered against Connie’s lips.

But before they stepped inside, Hudson pulled them both to a stop. “Sweetheart, let’s dry off before we go in. We don’t want to get him cold.”

“I’m sure the two of you will warm me up quickly,” Kit said. But then he held his arms out. “But feel free to dry me off, by all means.”

Teaser Tuesday (on a Wednesday lol)

~Sorry I'm late! We spent half of yesterday getting a washer and dryer. The part I needed is no longer made, and I checked the cities in AR, MS, and TN around me lol. Then got home and went to get my Ozempic, only to find out that insurance is forcing me to use mail delivery now... and I find this out with one dose left in my pen. I was just done yesterday, and my head was killing me.

Turning slightly, Connie rested his hand on Kit’s thigh. Hudson gently grasped Kit’s chin, turning their mate’s head towards him. Connie’s hand continued its journey, inching higher up Kit’s thigh as Hudson pressed their lips together in a possessive kiss.

The heat between them was palpable, their connection undeniable as they claimed their mate together.
Kit’s wineglass wobbled dangerously, threatening to spill its contents, but Connie rescued the glass and carefully set it back down. Then his focus returned to working his hand toward his prize.

He slowly inched ever so closer to his desired destination. After what seemed like an eternity, he deftly slid his hand under the waistband of Kit’s swimming trunks, sending a rush of heat through his body as Connie wrapped his fingers around Kit’s cock.

Teaser Tuesday

Why Don was stalking Kit was a question they needed an answer to. Was it on orders from Lennox? They knew Don worked for Lennox, so maybe it was nothing more than a recon mission .

Don had better hope they never got their hands on him.

A small, amused smile formed on Connie’s lips as he observed the bemused expression on Kit’s face. Hudson’s boastful declaration to throw money at any wedding-related problem that may arise clearly left Kit feeling out of his depth. Kit really didn’t know what he was dealing with, that much was obvious.

Teaser Tuesday

Hudson studied Kit as his mate squared off with Connie. Oddly enough, Kit seemed perfectly okay, and the bond reinforced that feeling. Kit had been scared and worried, but not nearly as panicked as Hudson and Connie had been when Kit called.

Kit really was okay and was now giving Connie what for.

Kit suddenly swung around and pointed at Hudson. “You’re not off the hook, either.”

“Connie is my right hand. I really do believe you should focus your ire on him.”

“Oh, thanks. Thanks so much.” Connie crosses arms over his chest and glared at Hudson.

Teaser Tuesday

Hudson squeezed both of his mates. “We were worried.”

“Very worried,” Connie agreed. “I was afraid we couldn’t get to you in time and all of these harmful scenarios for running in my head. Maybe you shouldn’t leave the compound until this damn situation with—”

Kit wormed an arm out and gently pulled Connie’s hair. “Finish that sentence and I’m going to snatch you bald.”

Beckett climbed out of his vehicle and shut the door. “He’s already threatened to snatch the both of you bald today. I wouldn’t push it if I were either of you.”

Hudson wrapped Kit up and just… just breathed. Kit was there and he was fine. Maybe if he repeated that a few million times his brain would get the massage.

A few seconds later Connie plowed into them. They both held on desperately to Kit, and their hearts beat in rhythm, something Hudson had never noticed before now. It was glorious, and steadying, and for the briefest of moments, they were one.

“Are you okay?” Connie murmured into Kit’s hair.

Teaser Tuesday

Hudson disconnected the call. Thank the dragon gods he and Connie had been working from home that day and not one at his office in San DeLain.

Smoke trailed from his nostrils as he surged to his feet. If that was Don trailing Beckett and Kit, the asshole had better pray to whatever God he believed in for mercy because Hudson had none.

When he arrived at his garage, Sir Parker, Lady Audrey, Lord Nelson, and Lord Mitchell from his Inner Circle were waiting, along with two dragons from his court.

Hudson squeezed Connie shoulder briefly before addressing his dragons and explaining what was going on.

“Are we sure it’s Don?” Audrey asked.

“No, unfortunately, but Beckett is positive they are being followed, and he’s also reasonably sure it’s a white Chevy truck, which Don does drive. Regardless, we take no chances.”

“Tell your mates we’re coming up on our exit in about two minutes. It’ll be another twenty to thirty minutes before we reach Hudson’s territory after that.”

“Gotcha.” Kit quickly repeated what he was told as soon as Hudson answered the phone.

“Do exactly what Beckett tells you, babe,” Hudson demanded. “We’re on our way.”

Teaser Tuesday

“Huh?” Beckett glanced quickly at Kit.

“Don’t give me that look. And how can you be as old as you are and manage to look so innocent?” Kit waved his hand like he was shooing away the question. “Anyway, you’re frowning. Is something going on?”

“Just keeping an eye on traffic.”

“Beckett.”

“Okay, okay, I thought I saw a white Chevy truck a ways back, but I couldn’t get a good look at it to see if it had front end damage.”

Recently he, Hudson, and Connie had been part of a wreck on the interstate. Kit had been pretty sure he’d seen Don, his ex-boyfriend, and possibly his vehicle, in the pileup, which had sustained damage. But Kit wasn’t sure.

Teaser Tuesday

Kit started to make a joke about dragons and their wealth when he noticed Beckett staring at the rearview mirror, frowning. “Okay, what?”

Kit huffed. They were not going to do this. “Beckett.”

Teaser Tuesday on a Wednesday

“Wait.” Kit partially twisted in the seat so he could see Beckett better. “Masquerade ball? You did say masquerade ball, right?”

“I did, yes. I’m surprised Hudson hasn’t said anything yet since he and Kage host it, but it’s still several months off. But yes, it’s the event in paranormal society. Invitation only, of course, and the few humans who are in attendance know about us.”

Kit pursed his lips. Why was he just now hearing about this? “It sounds ritzy.”

“A dragon is partly responsible for this event, of course it’s ritzy.”

“Of course.” Kit chuckled.

Teaser Tuesday on a Thursday

Kit and Beckett chitchatted as they drove, Beckett constantly checking the traffic around them.

“So, tell me, how are the wedding plans coming along?”

“It’s still very, very early stages, but I’m looking at a couple of venues. One is the Monarch Hotel.”

“Nice. Their grand ballroom is elegant,” Beckett said as he glanced in the rearview mirror.

“Oh, you know of it?”

“Of course. It’s where the annual masquerade ball is held,” Beckett said.

Teaser Tuesday

Kit disconnected the call and slipped his phone back into his pants pocket. This wasn’t the first time Austin had done a book signing at his store, and it probably wouldn’t be the last, but hopefully this one wouldn’t turn into the nightmare the other one had.

Of course, there had been some good that came out of Nox attacking Kit and then mimicking him—Kit had met his mates, so he did have Nox to thank for that.

Unfortunately, Nox’s brother was now stalking him thanks to something that had happened in the past between him and Kit’s papa, Michail.

Teaser Tuesday

This is a teaser from Beyond the Darkness, book 3 in the Dragons of San DeLain

Chapter One – Kit

KIT PLOPPED down in his desk chair and opened his laptop. He needed to check the inventory in his bookstore, especially if he was going to have a book signing by a well-known, local author. But before he even touched his keyboard, his cell phone rang.

Kit fished it out of his pocket, then grinned as he answered. “I was just thinking about you. Was your nose itching?”

“Ha. I thought the saying was that someone was going to come visit you,” Austin replied.

Kit laughed. “Well, aren’t you?”

“Okay, you got me because as a matter of fact, yes, I am.”
